For the love of CRAFT!
“The wonderful thing about having two part time jobs is the flexibility it allows you” said NO ONE….EVER.
Often it is the most fundamental needs that dominate our motivations and recently those needs most fundamental have been sorrowfully far from my art practices. My one saving grace however has been the jewellery classes at Vanilla Ink Dundee.
Not only do these classes allow me access to fantastic facilities in the Vanilla Ink Studios, help and advice from prolific jewellers and artists with practical exercises in new techniques but the once a week 3 hour format means I can build a working time management model that includes the crucial artists aspect.
Through the legitimising of processes I had been previously doing in earnest, I feel able to apply a level of importance to my practice. In short I have become able to respect the time and energy I spend creating.
I respect my Thursday evenings and organise my work and social life around them, they matter more now.
Why was I so hesitant to give myself this permission of legitimacy?
Introducing the beautiful Hazel Aitken with some of our StarryeyedCrafts goodies.
Hazel often buddies Lauren when she is crafting, has helped organize the studio, has assisted at many craft fairs and also makes a mean cup of tea!
She also makes her own range of glittery resin goodies which she sells locally.
Hazel is one of those people with a heart of gold and the morale compass to match. So for our first “friends of StarryEyedCrafts” post Hazel takes her place, well deserved too!
